ElectroMode: Un mezzo passo falso per Vitalic

Anno 2005: Ok Cowboy, esordio del producer francese Pascal Arbez aka Vitalic, vede la luce. My Friend Dario, Poney Part 1, Trahison sono solo alcune delle tracce che rendono quest’album una tappa indimenticabile della storia della musica elettronica.

Anno 2009: occorrono quattro lunghi anni per poter ascoltare Flashmob, seconda fatica di Vitalic. Qualunque confronto con Ok Cowboy sarebbe imbarazzante. Ma non per demerito di Flashmob. Il primo è un lavoro irripetibile, il secondo è un LP discreto con lampi folgoranti come Poison Lips, Second Lives, See The Sea.

2009: it takes four long years to listen to Flashmob, the new LP of Vitalic. Any comparison with Ok Cowboy would be offsite. The first is a one-off work, the second is a decent LP with some jewels like Poison Lips, Second Lives, See The Sea.

Anno 2012: il prossimo 22 ottobre verrà licenziato su Different Recording e su Citizen Records il terzogenito di Pascal, Rave Age.

Per ora si sa poco del nuovo album. Sicura è la lista degli ospiti: Joe Reeves (Shitdisco), Owlle e Rebeka Warrior (Sexy Sushi), Mickael Karkousse (Goose).

Da ormai un mese è disponibile su soundcloud, scaricabile gratuitamente, il brano No More Sleep. Che dire? Se il buongiorno si vede dal mattino, allora si attendono tempi di vacche magre per i fan di Vitalic. No More Sleep non suona come un pezzo del genietto transalpino che ci ha incantato con Ok Cowboy. Lo ascolti e mai potresti pensare che è farina del sacco di Pascal Arbez. Potresti pensare ai Crookers, a Sinden, a Bobmo. Solo una decina di secondi a metà traccia testimonia la presenza di Vitalic. È un interludio, una goccia in un mare di mediocrità e stereotipia musicali. Il suono è dozzinale, ammicca alle masse e manca di qualità.

La speranza è che il buongiorno si veda nonostante il mattino.

You can download for free on souncloud the track No More Sleep. The beginning isn’t promising. No More Sleep doesn’t sound as a song of the French genius who produced Ok Cowboy. You listen to it and never you can think: “Ok, that’s Vitalic mark”. You could think of Crookers, Sinden, Bobmo. Just a bunch of seconds at the mid of the track testifies the presence of Vitalic. It’s an interlude, a drop in a ocean of musical mediocrity. The sound is second-rate, for the masses.
