ElectroMode: Li manda Frank

La banalità non è un concetto che appartiene all’universo semantico dei Frank Sent Us. Questa band rock sui generis – formata da quattro amici romani e nata nel 2009 – miscela sapientemente audio e video, dando vita a live energici e d’impatto.

Non si tratta di mera giustapposizione di universi distinti, di visual che accompagnano la musica. La peculiarità dei Frank Sent Us è invece la compenetrazione di audio e video, un grandioso esperimento sinestetico, dove letteralmente i suoni si vedono e le immagini si odono.

Frank Sent Us is an unusual rock band born in 2009, made up of four Roman friends. They mix skilfully audio and video: their live sets are heap of energy.

The Frank Sent Us’ peculiarity is the osmosis of audio and video. It deals with an extraordinary synesthetic experiment, where you can see the sounds and listen to the images.

Quando si legge su Rolling Stone Italia che «uno show così in Italia oggi non lo propone nessuno», sappiate che non è un’esagerazione. Noi di ElectroMode abbiamo assistito più di una volta al live dei Frank Sent Us. Adrenalina pura. La musica è un cocktail elettrizzante di rock, dubstep, techno, hip hop. Le immagini sono tagli (e omaggi) di film e serie storiche: da Fa’ la cosa giusta a Ghostbusters, da A-Team a Pulp Fiction, da Fight Club a Ritorno al Futuro. Il loro punto d’incontro è spesso una frase presa dal video e looppata ossessivamente a ritmo di musica.

When you read on Rolling Stone Italia that «now nobody offers such a show in Italy», that isn’t an exaggeration. We attended many times Frank Sent Us’ show. Just one word can explain it: adrenalin. The music is an electrifying blend of rock, dubstep, techno, hip hop. The images are cuts of movies and TV series: from Do The Right Thing to Ghostbusters, from A-Team to Pulp Fiction, from Fight Club to Back to the Future. A sentence or a word in the video is caught and obsessively looped in rhythm.

L’ultima fatica dei Frank Sent Us è il remix AV del gioco cult GTA5. Il tocco geniale dei quattro si è esteso anche al mondo dei videogiochi: auto che si rincorrono, personaggi cattivissimi, elicotteri che volteggiano nell’aria fanno da cornice al sound sporco dei quattro di Roma. Il risultato è sotto gli occhi di tutti.

I Frank Sent Us stanno attualmente lavorando a un EP di sei tracce, sviluppate attorno all’operazione del virtual featuring: la collaborazione reale con altri cantanti o band diventa virtuale nel corso dei loro live. Ne è un esempio il lavoro coi Colle der Fomento.

The last work by Frank Sent Us is the AV remix of GTA5. Videogames are the last frontier for the band: running cars, bad characters, twirling helicopters are the background for the dirty sound. A stunning work.
